Israeli Prime Minister under ‘enormous’ pressure amid truce talks

ANU Middle East expert Ian Parmeter says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is under “enormous” pressure.

This comes amid discussions about the truce talks taking place in Egypt regarding the conflict in Gaza.

“He’s under pressure first of all from the right-wing members of his own cabinet,” Mr Hamilton told Sky News Australia.

“This cabinet of Netanyahu’s is said to be the most hardline in Israeli history.

“They refuse to make any concessions to Hamas.

“At the same time, he’s under enormous pressure from the families and supporters of the hostages.

“The third pressure if from the United States, because all of this happening in Gaza is a big distraction from Biden’s re-election campaign.”
